In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals, Hazras Charity Foundation (HCF) in collaboration with Sahel University, Somalia, successfully hosted a 2-day free virtual medical workshop for medical students across Somalia. The event, held from May 2–3, 2025, was themed around medical capacity building, education equity, and humanitarian development.

The workshop brought together a diverse group of medical facilitators from Nigeria and beyond, who delivered five comprehensive modules designed to sharpen clinical skills, enhance professional ethics, and deepen medical knowledge in areas crucial to developing health systems.

Over the course of two days, participating students immersed themselves in interactive learning sessions, covering topics such as:

1. Emergency Response and Trauma Care

2. Public Health and Preventive Medicine

3. Basic Surgical Skills and Clinical Procedures

4. Medical Ethics and Communication

5. Mental Health Awareness and Patient Care

Each session was conducted between 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Nigeria) / 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM (Somalia), with a blend of lectures, Q&A sessions, case studies, and peer engagement.

A Humanitarian Gift of Knowledge

This workshop was more than an academic experience—it was a humanitarian gesture. “We recognize that education is a fundamental tool for nation-building, and healthcare education is critical to saving lives,” said Dr. Abdullateef Abdulkadir, Chairman of Hazras Charity Foundation. “By offering this training free of charge, we hope to bridge learning gaps and empower students who may not have regular access to such resources.”

Student Impact and Recognition

Participants who completed all five modules with 100% attendance were awarded a Certificate of Participation, recognizing their dedication and commitment to professional development. This certificate represents a milestone in their academic journey and adds significant value to their portfolios.

Gratitude and Future Outlook

Hazras Charity Foundation extends its heartfelt appreciation to all facilitators who delivered their sessions with excellence, and to Sahel University for their continuous support and collaboration. “We are grateful to the university’s management for integrating Hazras Charity Foundation into the academic lives of their students,” said the HCF program coordinator. “We look forward to deepening this partnership through future collaborations and joint development programs.”

The success of this workshop stands as a testament to the power of pan-African solidarity, digital learning, and shared purpose. As HCF continues to expand its health education and humanitarian outreach, initiatives like this are vital steps toward building resilient health systems and informed medical leaders across Africa.
