Hazras Charity Foundation and MAA International Distribute Food Packs to 800 Flood-Affected Households in Mokwa, Niger State
Mokwa, Niger State – 20th August, 2025
In a major humanitarian intervention, Hazras Charity Foundation (HCF), in partnership with Muslims Aid Australia International (MAA), has successfully delivered 800 Food Packs to households severely affected by devastating floods in Mokwa, Niger State.
The distribution, fully sponsored by MAA International and coordinated by HCF, brought immediate relief to vulnerable families, including widows, orphans, displaced persons, and low-income households who lost farmlands, homes, and livelihoods due to the floods. Each food pack contained essential staples — rice, cassava flakes, vegetable oil, beans, seasoning, salt, and sugar — aimed at reducing hunger and ensuring household food security.
Preparatory Engagements
Ahead of the distribution exercise, Hazras Charity Foundation embarked on strategic courtesy visits to secure collaboration and local ownership of the project. Delegations visited:
His Royal Highness, the Etsu Nupe, who welcomed the initiative and pledged his full support to ensure it reached deserving households.
The Niger State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs,
The Ministry of Budget and Planning, and
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).
These engagements strengthened institutional support, promoted transparency, and enabled effective coordination for a successful distribution.
Voices of Leadership
Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Abdullateef Abdulkadir, Chairman of Hazras Charity Foundation, emphasized the significance of humanitarian partnerships:
> “This intervention is a symbol of compassion and solidarity. With the generous sponsorship of MAA International, we have been able to bring hope to 800 households in Mokwa who were severely affected by floods. Our collaboration with the Etsu Nupe Palace, government agencies, and community leaders made today’s success possible. Together, we are proving that humanitarian challenges can only be solved through unity and shared responsibility.”
Representatives of the ministries and local authorities praised the initiative, describing it as a model of effective international–local collaboration in humanitarian service delivery.
Beneficiaries’ Voices
Beneficiaries of the intervention expressed profound gratitude. A widow from Mokwa town shared:
> “Since the flood destroyed my farm, I have struggled to feed my children. This food pack has given us relief and restored my hope.”
Another recipient, a displaced father of four, noted:
> “We lost everything to the floods, and survival has been tough. The food pack came at the right time when we had nothing left to eat. May Allah bless those who made this possible.”
Impact and Way Forward
The successful delivery of this 800 Food Aid Project highlights the power of international solidarity and grassroots coordination in addressing humanitarian crises.
